Hampi Solo Trip:
Exploring the Magnificence of Ancient India
Join me on an
incredible journey as I embarked on a soul-searching solo road trip to the
mesmerizing city of Hampi. This dream trip took place from January 26th to
January 30th, 2022, and those four days seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.
It was an unforgettable experience that will forever hold a special place in my
heart. Let me share the incredible surprises I encountered along the way.
The journey can be
seen in the below map.
Shree Siddagangaa Matha: Where Blessings Abound
Shree Siddagangaa Matha |
I kickstarted my
adventure on the morning of January 26th, leaving Bangalore at 6 AM on my
trusty Honda Unicorn 160cc bike. Heading towards Tumakur, my first stop was the
revered Shree Siddagangaa Matha. By 8:30 AM, I had covered a total distance of
90 kilometers.
The Shree
Siddagangaa Matha holds immense benefits for society, particularly in the field
of education. It provides educational opportunities for those who cannot afford
the high costs of schooling. Additionally, the Matha offers Annadasoha (food distribution)
daily, attracting millions of devotees who seek blessings and partake in the
prasad (sacred food offering).
Chitradurga Fort: A
Majestic Citadel
Leaving the
Siddganga Matha behind, I embarked on an incredible journey to the historic
Chitradurga Fort, located 137 kilometers away via the NH48 road. Known as
Elusuttina Kote, meaning the "fort of seven circles," this formidable
hill fort stands as one of the nation's most impressive architectural marvels.
The zigzagging pathways offer breathtaking views from every angle. Spending an
entire day exploring this grand fort is highly recommended, although I managed
to cover one-third of it in just three hours.
Hosapet: Gateway to
Hampi's Wonders
Continuing my
adventure, I set off for Hosapet, a 130-kilometer journey via the NH50 road.
Despite feeling tired, I reached my destination around 8:30 PM. Exhausted and
in need of rest, I found comfort at the Hosapet Shanbhag Hotel, where excellent
food and service awaited. Conveniently located just 12 kilometers away from
Hampi, the hotel proved to be a great choice. I highly recommend considering
the Hosapet Shanbhag Hotel for your accommodation needs when visiting the area.
Hampi: A UNESCO
World Heritage Site of Unforgettable Beauty
Hampi, a UNESCO
World Heritage site nestled in Karnataka, India, captivated me with its
breathtaking beauty and awe-inspiring majesty. This serene landscape is adorned
with ancient ruins, temples, monuments, and sculptures, each telling the
captivating story of a long-lost era.
The energy I gained
from the Hampi experience seemed to wash away all my fatigue, reigniting my
enthusiasm to explore the place in greater detail. Armed with my curiosity, I
embarked on a two-day sightseeing adventure, visiting a plethora of remarkable
sites within a 4-kilometer radius.
Some of the notable
attractions I explored include the Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple, Hemakuta Hill
Temple, Sri Virupaksha Temple, Kadalekalu Ganesha, Purandardasa Mantapa, Koti
Linga, Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Badavilinga Temple, Elephant Stables, Queen's
Bath, Lotus Mahal, and Vijaya Vittala Temple
